As an introduction, it may be helpful for you to know about my overall approach as a psychotherapist. Through a relationship of trust, I assist clients discover how their behaviour and mental well-being is influenced by childhood experiences and inappropriate repetitive thoughts or feelings that often lie outside of their awareness.

The work of our sessions provides guidance and encouragement to help develop resources, build self-esteem, reduce anxiety, improve interpersonal relationships, strengthen coping mechanisms, and increase social and community functioning. Together we explore cognitive, emotional, and/or behavioural disturbances using verbal and non-verbal techniques. Most important, sessions are client centred, guided by the client's pace and comfort level, providing a gentle movement toward holistic health and well-being. Psychotherapy is not a short-term approach.

DEFINITION: Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, rooted in the therapeutic relationship between therapist and client, seeks to reveal the unconscious, dynamic content of the mind to alleviate mental tension which can manifest in a variety of symptoms that distort and disrupt a sense of self, well-being, and everyday functioning. Psychotherapy covers a broad range of therapies, such as Cognitive and Behavioural therapies, Experiential and Humanistic therapies, Systemic and Collaborative therapies, Narrative therapy, and Gestalt and Somatic therapies.

I began my psychodynamic psychotherapy and somatic training in 2012 and in 2017 began working with clients wrestling with the overwhelming emotions of sadness, depression, stress-related panic attacks and the physical ailments that arise from trauma, neglect, and abuse. And as a therapist, I have witnessed such favourable change!!!

Client wellness is grounded in the trusting alliance that develops between client and therapist. This unique relationship creates a safe space for clients to explore their early childhood origins of emotional suffering and move toward wellness.

Clients find their regularly scheduled, client-centred, 50-minute sessions a gift of time. In this safe haven, they gradually begin to self-reflect by talking with their therapist. They explore their repressed memories through dream work and art/play therapy. When appropriate, mindfulness practices are introduced to foster their mind/body connections.

Therapy sessions also offer clients a confidential place to explore issues of sexual identity and life-stages, as well as the challenges of their relationships and jobs, and the perplexities of existential and spiritual questions.

Overall, my goal as your therapist is to facilitate your alleviating your presenting symptoms and for you to experience a healthier, grounded, and balanced life. It is all about well-being and being well. Let’s do this work together.
